Mozambican entrepreneurs discuss opportunities at CPLP Business Summit in São Tomé

Entrepreneurs from Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe and Portugal will discuss business opportunities as part of the second summit of the Business Confederation of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CE-CPLP), which starts today, March 17, and lasts until next Saturday, March 19, in São Tomé and Príncipe.

Mozambique is represented by a group of businesspeople and public managers eager to establish partnerships and find markets for a variety of Mozambican products.

“During the summit, it is expected that the existing business opportunities in the CPLP community and how to increase the levels of exports within this market will be discussed,” Jornal Notícias reports.

The event, organised by the CPLP Business Confederation, will demonstrate the enormous potential, business opportunities, resources and funding available.

During the three days, participants will discuss topics such as the economy of the sea, agriculture and food processing, innovative instruments to promote private investments and public-private partnerships, energy and infrastructure, the internationalisation of companies and other topics.

According to a note cited by ‘Notícias’, Mozambique will participate in some panels, one of them led by Gil Pires, Director General of APIEX, who will be part of the panel on the internationalisation of companies. Another panel is led by Moza Banco’s João Figueiredo, who will talk about the development fund, among other topics.

Mozambican businessman Salimo Abdula is currently the president of the EC-CPLP, an organisation that aims to promote and develop business relations between CPLP countries, as well as to boost investments in member states.

The nine member states of the CPLP are Brazil, Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, and Timor-Leste.
